Net Newsledger has a ululating opinion piece by John Coleman, founder of the Weather Channel, saying that the global warming theory is a “scam”. Most of it’s just the same old tired inactivist talking points, so let’s skip to the interesting part. Those who have been watching the self-styled “2008 International Conference on Climate Change” in early March this year may remember that Coleman threatened during the event to sue Gore. Here’s what he’s saying about his phantom lawsuit now:

That idea [of a lawsuit against Gore] has become the basis for legal research by notable attorneys

Such as…?

and discussion among global warming debunkers,

Discussion? More like regurgitation.

but it’s a long way from the Court room.

An understatement, because it’s a very very long way indeed, and even if it manages to get near the courtroom, it’ll likely be thrown out. It’s worth noting that Viscount Christopher Monckton has been threatening lawsuits left and right since 2006 (or earlier), and pretty much every one of these ‘lawsuits’ culminated in a cloud of pink fluff. (And the only time he actually filed a lawsuit, he had to hide behind the apron strings of Stuart Dimmock… and they didn’t win.)

By the way, Coleman blames the current high oil prices on those Nasty Leftist Environmentalists™, rather than the OPEC cartel’s output rationing or the unhealthy dependence on oil that led to this problem in the first place:

The battle against fossil fuels has controlled policy in this country for decades. It was the environmentalist’s prime force in blocking any drilling for oil in this country and the blocking the building of any new refineries, as well. So now the shortage they created has sent gasoline prices soaring.
